Your furniture might not be the problem.
It might just be where it’s sitting.
In today’s Five Minute Fix, we’re talking about one of the biggest layout mistakes I see in homes all the time: furniture that feels awkward, disconnected, or “off” in the room…even when the pieces themselves are beautiful.
Because here’s what most people do:
They push every piece against the walls hoping the room will feel bigger.
But instead?
The room often ends up feeling cold, disconnected, and surprisingly harder to use.
In today’s episode, you’ll learn:
- Why floating furniture away from the walls can actually make a room feel larger and cozier
- The hidden reason your seating arrangement may feel uncomfortable or awkward
- What designers mean by “conversation zones” and why they matter
- A simple furniture shift you can try in five minutes that changes the entire feel of a room
- How rugs help anchor furniture and create connection between pieces
- Why rooms need “pathways” instead of just empty space
One of the biggest mindset shifts in decorating is realizing:
Open space alone does not create good flow.
Connection does.
When furniture is too spread out, every piece starts feeling isolated instead of intentional. But when pieces are pulled together thoughtfully, your room immediately starts feeling warmer, more conversational, and more inviting.
And friend…this is one of those fixes that costs absolutely nothing to try.
Ready to go beyond quick fixes?
Inside The Collective, I help you figure out layouts, scale, styling, flow, and all the little details that make a home finally feel pulled together—without second-guessing every decision.

You know that feeling when your home is technically decorated… but it still doesn’t feel finished?
Everything is in place. You’ve bought the furniture, hung some art, added a few pillows—but something still feels off. Not terrible. Just… incomplete.
In this episode, I’m breaking down the 7 most common decorating mistakes that keep homes stuck in that “almost there” stage for years.
And here’s the truth most people miss: it’s rarely about buying more things. It’s about a few key decisions that quietly affect how your entire home feels.
Let’s get into it.
1. Decorating room-by-room instead of as a whole home
When every room is designed in isolation, your home starts to feel disconnected. Even beautiful rooms won’t flow together if there’s no shared thread connecting them.
2. Hanging onto placeholder pieces too long
That “we’ll replace it later” rug? The temporary lighting? The art you never really loved? These pieces quietly keep your home in limbo—and your eye registers that lack of intention.
3. Getting scale wrong (especially rugs, lighting, and art)
Even well-designed rooms feel off when scale is wrong. Too-small rugs, undersized lighting, or timid art choices can make everything feel underwhelming.
4. Mixing styles without a bridge element
You can mix styles beautifully—but without a unifying material, color, or shape language, the room starts to feel accidental instead of curated.
5. Playing it too safe with neutrals
Safe doesn’t always mean successful. When everything is soft beige, gray, or white, rooms can lose depth, contrast, and personality.
6. Treating lighting as functional instead of foundational
Lighting is often an afterthought, but it’s one of the most powerful design tools you have. Without layering and intention, even great rooms fall flat.
7. Not editing enough
Most homes don’t struggle from a lack of decor—they struggle from too much. When every surface is filled, nothing gets to stand out.
If your home feels “almost finished,” you don’t need a full redesign. You likely need clarity, editing, and a few intentional adjustments that shift how everything works together.
Small changes can create a surprisingly big transformation.
If this is the stage you’re in—where you can see what’s not working but aren’t sure what to do next—that’s exactly what I help with inside my coaching and programs.
You don’t need more inspiration. You need a clear plan that connects your home together.

Ever walk through your home and feel like each room tells a different story?
Nothing is necessarily wrong… but it doesn’t quite feel pulled together either.
In today’s Five Minute Fix, we’re talking about one of the most common frustrations I see—homes that feel disconnected from room to room—and the simple shift that can change everything.

You don’t need to start over.

- Why decorating room-by-room often leads to a disconnected home
- The real reason your space feels “off” (even when you like everything in it)

This is one of those small changes that creates a big impact—helping your home feel calmer, more intentional, and finally like it all makes sense.

389 // Is AI ruining home design? The truth no one’s talking about
Friday May 08, 2026
Friday May 08, 2026
AI is everywhere right now…including home decorating.
From instant mood boards to room renderings and paint color suggestions, artificial intelligence is changing the way women approach decorating their homes. But is AI actually helping us create more beautiful homes…or is it making our spaces feel more generic?
In this episode, we’re diving into the pros and cons of using AI in home design and talking honestly about what technology can do well—and what it completely misses.
Because while AI can generate a gorgeous room in seconds, it doesn’t know your lifestyle, your budget, your pets, your memories, or the pieces you already own and love.
Most importantly?
It doesn’t know YOU.
In this conversation, we explore:
- The biggest benefits of using AI for home decorating
- How AI can help you overcome design overwhelm
- Why AI is useful for paint colors, layouts, and visualizing possibilities
- The hidden downside of AI-generated homes
- Why trendy rooms often feel disconnected and impersonal
- How AI may be pulling women away from trusting their own design instincts
- The difference between a “Pinterest perfect” room and a home that feels personal and lived in
- Why your intuition still matters when decorating your home
If you’ve ever wondered whether AI can truly replace a designer—or if it’s just another tool in your decorating toolbox—this episode is for you.
Your home should reflect your story, not just the latest trends.

Friday May 01, 2026
In this episode, I’m sharing a coaching conversation with Stefanie—a woman who already knew what she loved in her home, but couldn’t quite figure out how to bring it to life.
She was drawn to cottage-style and Polish granny chic interiors. She had the inspiration saved. She had the vision in her mind. She could even articulate the feeling she wanted her home to have.
But her reality didn’t match it.
She had been in her home for about a year, and instead of feeling settled and expressive, she felt stuck in neutral. Not wrong… just not her. And like so many women, she found herself collecting more and more inspiration—Pinterest boards, saved images, ideas for color, wallpaper, texture—but nothing was actually changing in her space.
If you’ve ever felt like your home is full of ideas but nothing is actually happening, you’re not alone.
What Stefanie was struggling with:
- She wasn’t sure where to start in her home
- Her space didn’t reflect her personality yet
- She kept collecting inspiration but couldn’t translate it into action
- She had ideas, but felt stuck in neutral
- She couldn’t see how to connect the dots across her rooms
This is such a common place to be—especially when you already have good taste and a strong sense of what you like. The problem isn’t lack of ideas. It’s not knowing how to turn those ideas into a cohesive direction for your actual home.
What shifted in the conversation:
During our coaching call, we worked through how her style could actually show up in real life—not just in inspiration images.
Instead of trying to “start from scratch,” we focused on:
- identifying patterns in what she was already drawn to
- clarifying how her style could show up consistently across rooms
- simplifying her decision-making so she wasn’t overwhelmed by options
- helping her see her home as a connected whole, not separate unfinished rooms
The breakthrough wasn’t about adding more ideas—it was about finally making sense of the ones she already had.
The bigger takeaway:
So many of us don’t actually need more inspiration.
We need clarity.
Because inspiration without direction just turns into overwhelm. And overwhelm often turns into inaction—which is exactly what keeps homes feeling unfinished and disconnected.
If you’ve been collecting ideas for your home but nothing is changing, this episode will help you see what might actually be missing.

387 // The SECRET to a clean home (when you don't have time to clean)
Friday Apr 24, 2026
Friday Apr 24, 2026
Ever feel like keeping your home clean requires hours you just don’t have?
Like no matter how hard you try, you’re either always behind… or spending your entire weekend catching up?
In today’s episode, I’m sharing the simple shift that changed everything for me:
a 15-minute-a-day cleaning rhythm that keeps your home consistently clean—without burnout, overwhelm, or all-day cleaning marathons.
Because here’s the truth:
It’s not that you’re lazy.
It’s not that you don’t care.
It’s that you’ve probably never been shown a system that actually fits your life.
Inside this episode, I’ll walk you through:
- How to break your week into simple, manageable tasks
- The exact daily rhythm I use—from Mirror Mondays to Floor Fridays
- How to keep cleaning from piling up (even when life gets busy)
- And how to finally feel on top of your home instead of behind it
This approach is designed for real life—
for busy women, full schedules, and homes that are meant to be lived in, not just cleaned.
And the best part?
It only takes about 15 minutes a day.
Your Weekly Cleaning Rhythm:
- Mondays: Mirror Mondays (glass, windows, mirrors)
- Tuesdays: Toilet Tuesdays
- Wednesdays: Wipe-Down Wednesdays (counters + surfaces)
- Thursdays: Tackle One Thing Thursdays (one small, targeted task)
- Fridays: Floor Fridays
- Saturdays: Zone Reset (declutter + deeper clean one area each week)
If you’ve been craving a home that feels calm, clean, and pulled together—but don’t know where to start… this is your starting point.
And if you’re ready to take it a step further…
Ready for a Home You Truly Delight In?
Cleaning is just one piece of the puzzle.
If your home still feels unfinished, mismatched, or like it’s not quite you…
that’s where I come in.
Inside a Decorating SOS Call, we focus on exactly what you need help with—
whether that’s:
- Pulling a room together
- Making confident design decisions
- Creating a clear plan so you stop wasting time and money
- Or finally finishing a space that’s been lingering for far too long
This is personalized, 1:1 support to help you create a home you don’t just keep clean…
but one you actually love living in.
